Helping People Find & Follow Jesus

Welcome to City Light

a new church in Worcester, MA

If you’re like most people, there’s a longing in your soul that nothing in this world can satisfy. We believe Jesus is the answer to that longing, and we’d love to help you take the next step in your faith journey.

Next Steps

We’ve all been there. If you need to talk to somebody, or you have an urgent need, we’d love to help in whatever way we can. Send a description of your situation to info@citylightmass.com and we’ll respond to you within 24 hours.

Do you have questions about Jesus, the church, or the Christian faith? This is a place where you can ask honest questions and expect honest answers. You can send questions to info@citylightmass.com and we’ll respond to you within 24 hours.

It takes a village! It’s in community with others that you’ll grow in your faith and where you’ll make your own unique contributions toward the well-being of others. See the details below about our Sunday gatherings or head over to our Groups page.

We love our city, and one of the most practical ways we can show that love is by picking up trash! We host monthly trash pickups as the Worcester Trash Collective. To stay updated on cleanup dates and locations, follow @worcestertrashcollective on Facebook.

Does the idea of starting something new excite you? If you’d like to be part of the team that’s working behind the scenes to start and grow the church (and bless our city), let us know by sending a note to info@citylightmass.com.

Parking
The entrance is located on the back of 70 James Street (accessed from Genesee Street). There’s plenty of parking along the building and on Genesee Street (if needed).

Arrival & Getting Started
When you walk through the door you’ll see a skatepark, which means you’re in the right place! You’ll be welcomed by a member of our hospitality team, who will show you around and help you get settled. If you have kids in 2nd grade or younger, we’ll make sure they’re checked in for City Kids (more on that below).

Worship
Shortly after 9:30 we’ll get things started by singing a few songs. You can sing like nobody’s listening, or simply use this time for personal reflection. Kids and families worship together during this time.

City Kids
After worship, kids (2nd grade and under) will have their own age-appropriate Bible lesson, along with games, interaction, and (of course) a snack. City Kids happens in a room adjacent to the main worship area and only scheduled team members are allowed in this area. All City Kids team members must clear a background check in order to serve on this team.

Bible Reading & Teaching
After the kids are dismissed, we have a time of teaching from the Bible (about 30-45 minutes). We believe the Bible is one of the ways God reveals himself to us, so an encounter with God’s Word is an encounter with God himself. Check out our Sermons page for examples of what this time is like.

Prayer
From the very beginning, the church has been a community marked by prayer. When the teaching time is over, we finish with a time of intentional prayer together. God speaks to us through his Word, and we respond to him in prayer. You don’t have to do or say anything during this time if you don’t feel ready or comfortable.

Wrapping Up
After prayer, we usually hang out for a bit after the service and we have lunch together on the first Sunday each month.

We’re an independent church rooted in the Christian faith; and we partner with the Bedrock Network and the North American Mission Board to help start new churches and ministries around the world. Our leadership is accountable to a board of guiding elders, and all our finances are managed by an external firm to maintain the highest standards of integrity and reporting.
